Christmas 2014 - Trip to DC

Christmas 2014 we took our first long road trip out to Virginia to spend it with The Virginia Trauger Family.  This was the first road trip we have taken in many years.  The kids did wonderful!

We left on Friday morning and arrived Saturday afternoon!
Sunday we spent the day in DownTown DC going to all of the sites. (Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Independence Island, WWII Memorial, Washington Monument, White House from the street and the National Tree which came from Minnesota this year!)

Monday we went to National harbor in Maryland.  We visited the Peep store and the kids each got an early Christmas present for Uncle Joe a little peep!  We then went down to Old Town Alexandria and walked the shops.  Cecillia found a store that had Breyer Horses so she was happy!
Tuesday we went to Air and Space Museum, American History Smithsonian Museum, walked past where Lincoln was shot on the way to my Brother's office and then went up to the Penthouse at his office to see the view of Down Town from the rooftop!
Wednesday was Christmas Eve and we decided to stay in this day and bake cookies for Santa and make Gingerbread houses!  It was so wonderful to have this special time with the kids and enjoy our family!  My Brother and Sister-in-law spent so much time making the trip special for us and the most amazing food!

Thursday (Christmas) we woke up to the blessing of Santa and many oo's and ah's about what presents we received.  But no rest for the tourists and we went to Mt Vernon (the home of George Washington) and I can tell you that was the most memorable part of our trip.  It was such a beautiful day outside and to be able to walk the grounds of the man that led our country and get to spend it with our family was truly a special time.  The night ended with another wonderful meal made by Joe and Kelleen.
Friday we woke and reluctantly said our goodbyes.  When we first arrived I felt like we had so much time to be there but leaving that day I really felt like we just didn't have enough time.
Thank you Joe and Kelleen for opening your home to our crazy and loud family!

August 23, 2012 Well, it has been awhile since I have taken the time to update our Blog! This will be a short post just to get myself started making notes again and soon I will be more winded! Summer is coming to an end and we are gearing up for another great school year! Hard to believe we have children in school! Nilla is ready for 3rd Grade, Cecillia 1st grade, and Holton is starting his first year of preschool! I am excited for the opportunity to have a few days a week to organize our home a little and get done with all of those projects that have been put on back burner! I am excited for our upcoming year and can't wait to start putting it all down in a post!

September 21, 2011

This year we have a 2nd grader and a Kindergartner!! Nilla has entered the 2nd grade and continues to enjoy school! Cecillia has now entered the big girl school world and has started Kindergarten! She is loving each day (though tired at the end of the day understandably!). That leaves lots of one on one time for Holton and myself!

Other than school we are keeping busy with dance for the girls! Nilla is on 4 different competition teams this year so she will be very busy with practice during the week and 3 competitions! Cecillia has also started dance this year and is having fun meeting new friends and learning dance moves!

Holton continues to grow and I am hoping to get him into gymnastics this year! His vocabulary is growing daily I think! I always surprised at what new words/sentences he is able to say each day!

Trevor and I are having fun learning what each new stage of parenthood brings! Trevor is very busy with work which is such a blessing in these uncertain times. I am also staying busy with carpooling the kids to activities and many other extra activities! I took a photography class at Lincoln Community Center and I am excited to have a new camera to learn how to take pictures of our family!

June 2010

Summer has begun! We have had a wonderful full week of summer vacation and we are starting our second! The school year went so quickly it is hard to believe we are into summer vacation already! Here are a few of the updates for our family!

Nilla finished her first year of school and will now be in the 1st grade next year! WOW! She did a fantastic job and her teacher was a blessing to have and I was lucky to be able to be a volunteer in the classroom! Nilla was also asked to be on the training team for gymnastics which is a big commitment and one we are not ready to make. She has wonderful skills and I am so proud of her for having the opportunity but we are passing this year. It is an 11 month commitment and she would be required to be at gymnastics 4 hours a week. Maybe next year! Nilla also finished her second year of dance and had a fantastic recital! I am so proud of how much she has grown up in the last year. She got to be a "helper" in Cecillia's 6 week class and I think that really gave her the drive to be the best she can and she did a fantastic job! This summer we will continue with Progression gymnastics, T-ball, & swimming lessons. We are blessed to have great friends in all of those activities so it will be a fantastic summer! Next adventure will be her 6th birthday bowling party!!! Can't wait to bowl with some of Nilla's friends and cousins!

Cecillia completed her 1st year of preschool and did such a great job! She also had a wonderful teacher, one I have been privileged to get to know over the years since it was Nilla's first year preschool teacher! We look forward to working on some of our writing skills and other important stuff over the summer and go back to 5c's 3 days a week next year! Cecillia is continuing gymnastics and doing such a great job! We also had her in a few sample sessions of dance and she had fun and may be able to join dance next year. Like Nilla, Cecillia will be in gymnastics and swimming lessons so we will be busy this summer! Her birthday is closer to the end of the summer and I look forward to celebrating with family & friends (DC family too!!).

Holton boy has turned 1!!!!!!! I can't believe how time flies! He is such a strong and enjoyable little guy! It is fun to see his way of communicating! He points at everything! He will holler until he gets your attention and then he points! Too dang cute! He is a walker now which is is surprising as he can crawl soooo fast! He continues to love up his sisters and give a side smile to anyone who will look. He is such a little flirt! He says da da, ma ma, (not necessarily at us but in general) all done, hot and continues to sponge up all he can!

Trevor and I are doing great! We are so lucky to have such a wonderful family and I really have soaked in all of the joy this family supplies! I am thankful for three healthy happy children and for the work that has kept Trevor and the crew busy. We have been enjoying the weather and our great neighbors. We have a great family close to us and have enjoyed spending time with them and is excited to spend more time with them this summer!

March 2010

We have been blessed with some warmer weather! So nice we have even walked to pick up Nilla from school! It is wonderful to have this warm weather so we can play outside and open the windows!

Not a lot to report for the girls but Holton has been learning stuff left and right! He is now crawling REALLY fast and has started to stand while holding on to the couch, window, chairs, basically anything he can! Such a big boy. The last few days he has learned to hold his pointer finger for "one" and use his pointer finger to fling cheerios!

We have been spending a lot of time with our neighbors who have kids the same age (one is in Nilla's class). So much fun to have such great friends so close!

More to update soon!

February 2010

February 23, 2010
It has been 7 months since our last update! Where to begin!
Our Valentine's day started with a wonderful breakfast and our Valentine's treats for each other! The family spent the afternoon at the Wow Zone bowling! The girls had a great time bowling and playing games!
Trevor had a birthday and the girls spent the weekend at grandma's while Trevor had the guys over to play some cards! The kids made Trevor cards and we went out to eat on Sunday for his birthday.
Our family:

Holton has grown by leaps and bounds! As of Thursday Feb. 11th Holton is crawling! It is amazing how quickly kids learn things! He has had a rough week with a bad virus which almost landed him in the hospital. Luckily we were able to go home with medicine and he seems to be getting better. He enjoys eating his cereal, fruits and vegetables.

Cecillia has been enjoying her 6 week Dance class on Wednesday nights. She has been waiting so long to be in dance like Nilla! This time around she is staying in class! She had her first Valentine's day party at school and enjoyed bringing treats and homemade cards!

Nilla is still enjoying dance and gymnastics. She also had her first big girl school Valentine's party! We made cards and had treat bags for each child. So much fun! She enjoys school and meeting new friends. She has had a few birthday parties with friends from her preschool and her new kindergarten class.

Hope to update again soon!
Lots of love,
Baumgartners

It's a boy!

June 25, 2009

Well, our little bundle of joy, Holton Trevor James Baumgartner, arrived June 02, 2009 at 7:44 a.m. weighing 7lbs 14oz and measuring 22inches long! Our little peanut! His sisters are so much in love with him and are such big helpers! Holton is a VERY easy baby! At his 2 week appointment he weighed 8lbs 8oz so he has gained his weight back and then some! Being a mom to a boy is SOOOO DIFFERENT! It was a little scary for the first week but it is wonderful now! Holton has been practicing smiling! Yesterday was one of the first times I have got Holton to smile (without a burp or toot to follow!) He even smiled for Grandma but wasn't so generous with Dad!

It is has been a wonderful 3 1/2 weeks watching our family grow from 4 to 5 and watching the girls grow and change into their new roles as big sisters!

Nilla has started Tball (first practice the night Holton was born!) and is doing great! It is fun to watch her learning a new sport and watching ball in general! We have enjoyed watching ball again! We celebrated Nilla's birthday early at Jake's with LOTS of friends and family! We are so lucky to have such great friends and family! We are excited to celebrate her actual birthday this weekend! We have our tradition of Jake's pizza on the 26th with Grandma and Grandpa and then lunch at the mall on her actual birthday! Traditions are great!

Both girls attended a week of summer camp at 5c's (bug camp). They did super! I think Cecillia enjoyed preschool for the first time and was excited to go each day! The last day we took a field trip to Rasmussen Woods (Cecillia's first bus ride!) It has been great getting Cecillia into the idea of going to school since she will be attending preschool in the fall!

Trevor and I are enjoying the new addition to our family and the summer! Girls have scheduled activities to keep us busy! We are so blessed.
